Dr. Juan Antonio Fernandez del Pozo is currently Associate Professor of Statistics and Operations Research at School of Computer Science and member of the Computational Intelligence Group at the UPM. He has published more than 60 articles, books chapters and confenrence comunications. He has participated in more than 30 research national and international proyects. He has been member of more than 18 evaluation panels of doctroral thesis.
His teaching interests include Statistics, Decision Support Systems and Operations Research. He is currently teaching Probability and Statistics and Topologycal data Analysis at the Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering, Decision Support Systems (Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence), Statisticas Data Analysis and Visualization (Master's Degree in Computational Biology), Decision Making Models Mining (Master's Degree in Informatics Engineering). He has supevised more than 12 Master's Degree projects and more than 50 final degree projects.

  • Research Interests:
    • His research interest is decision analysis and intelligent decision support systems based on probabilistic graphical models (influence diagrams and bayesian networks) that perform knowledge acquisition in huge decision tables, knowledge discovery and data mining on models output for explanation synthesis and sensitivity analysis.
    • He is interested in optimization based on evolutionary algorithms and classifications models. His primary applications are Social Networks Analysis, Air Traffic Management (ATM), Large Assignment Problems under general constrains.
    • Also his interests are centered around machine learning algorithms, particularly those related to novelty detection for data streams with concept drift capabilities and dynamic feature subset selection. His primary applications are in the fields of structural health monitoring, rotodynamic systems, and the machine tool industry, with a strong emphasis on the Industrie 4.0
    • He is collaborating in modelization of quality of service and quality of life on social service environmentsin colaboration with several Spanish Foundations.
    • His articles have appeared in various academic journals including: Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science, Journal of Operational Research, Computers & Operations Research, Kluwer Academic Publishers, Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Medical Decision Making.
